3746204 - Upcoming absences card visible to onboardees on latest homepage – removal via rbp; successfactors onboarding

Symptom

  • The “Upcoming Absences” section appears on the latest homepage for onboardees (external users) who have not yet joined.
  • The section is not applicable to onboardees and needs to be removed.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Enable the latest homepage.
  2. Log in as an onboardee (external user) or use proxy as an external user.
  3. Observe that the “Upcoming Absences” card is displayed on the homepage.
  4. In Manage Home Page, set the Analytics card target group to exclude external users.
  5. Log in again as an onboardee and observe the card still appears.

Cause

  • Standard behavior: Visibility of the “Upcoming Absences” card is governed by Time Management role-based permissions, not solely by the Analytics card target group. If external users have Time Off/Absence visibility, the card can appear.

Resolution

  1. Go to Admin Center > Manage Permission Roles and edit the external onboardee role (for example, the role assigned to onboardees).
  2. Under User Permissions > Time Management, remove or set to None any view permissions related to Time Off and Absences (for example, Employee Time object permissions, Time Accounts, Absences).
  3. Ensure no Time Off or Absence-related permissions are granted to external onboardees, so the card auto-hides due to lack of permission.
  4. Confirm the role’s target population includes only external onboardees as intended.
  5. Optionally, review Admin Center > Manage Home Page > Edit Sections (or Manage Quick Actions) and ensure any Time Off/Absences cards are not explicitly enabled for external users. Note: Disabling the card here may hide it for all users; prefer RBP to restrict only onboardees.
  6. Test in a preview environment, then log in as an external onboardee to verify the “Upcoming Absences” section no longer appears.
  7. If the card persists, review all default and inherited roles assigned to external users to ensure no Time Management permissions are granted and re-propagate RBP changes.
