3746437 - Employer Data Review shows “Not Applicable” in Offboarding Process

Symptom

  • Employer Data Review is shown as “Not Applicable” in the Offboarding dashboard.
  • The task does not appear in the Offboarding workflow even though the step is configured in the process variant.

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Initiate Offboarding using the default process variant.
  2. Go to Offboarding tasks.
  3. Observe that Employer Data Review is marked as "Not Applicable".

Cause

This is expected system behavior.

When a business rule is configured to skip the Employer Data Review step, and the rule condition is met during Offboarding execution, the system:

  • Does not create the task for that step
  • Marks the step as “Not Applicable” in the Offboarding dashboard

Even if the step is configured in the process variant, the rule evaluation takes precedence and suppresses task creation.

Resolution

  • This is standard expected behavior when a skip rule is active.

To change the behavior:

  • Review the business rule assigned to Employer Data Review step
  • Ensure the rule does not evaluate to skip = TRUE if the task should be triggered
  • Update or restrict rule conditions if the step must always appear
  • Re-test Offboarding initiation after rule adjustment

If the rule is intended to skip the step, then:

  • “Not Applicable” status is correct and expected
  • No further action is required
