3746658 - Configuration Transport Center - Import Completed with Errors for MDF Objects During Blackout Period

In Configuration Transport Center (CTC), after importing a transport bundle: 

• Import status shows: Imported with errors

In the validation or import report, one or more of the following messages may appear:

• Cannot find field: displayAs in object: GOFieldDefinition (Object Definition.csv).
• Import of incompatible MDF Object Definitions might fail as both source [bXXXX] and the target [bXXXX] tenants are on different release versions.

Although the import process completes, the affected MDF Object Definitions are not available in the target system.

 SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

1. In the source (preview) environment, open Configuration Transport Center and create a new bundle.
2. From Configure Object Definitions, add the required custom MDF objects to the transport bundle.
3. In Bundle Management, initiate the transport of the bundle to the target (production) environment.
4. In the target (production) environment, go to Configuration Transport Center > Transport Requests > Imports and run Validate.
5. Observe that validation and import completes with an incompatibility warning and the object is not imported.

This issue occurs during the blackout period between Preview Release and Production Release.

During this time:

• The source tenant (Preview) is on a higher release version
• The target tenant (Production) is on a lower release version

When MDF Object Definitions contain fields or configurations introduced in the higher version, they are not compatible with the lower version target system.

While CTC is generally available and not restricted during blackout periods, it prevents the successful import of such incompatible configurations.

There is no system error. This is expected behavior.

To avoid the issue: 

• Do not transport MDF Object Definitions from Preview to Production during blackout period if version mismatch exists
• Wait until both systems are on the same release version

You may identify incompatible MDF objects in the validation report

Note:

Even if validation detects incompatibilities, CTC currently allows the import to proceed
The import status will show “Imported with errors”, when some MDF objects are not imported at all
