Customers want to test changes using the same storefront domain URL (for example, https://shop.example.com) while the maintenance page remains active for public users.
When maintenance mode is enabled for the public storefront endpoint, users accessing the storefront from IP addresses included in the endpoint IP allowlist still receive the maintenance page and cannot access the live storefront using the same domain URL.
