3747170 - Posting for non-stock material failed with error message "No stock posting possible" (M7097) in Analyze Differences app.

Symptom

In the Analyze Differences app, posting of a difference is not possible for a non-inventory-managed material.
The error messages show up as follows:

  • Save cancelled; Objects will be reset
  • No stock posting possible (M7 097)

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

 

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Analyze Differences app.
  2. Filter for a non-stock material that has a physical-inventory difference.
  3. Click "Post".

Cause

This material is non-stock and not inventory-managed, so the stock postings from Analyze Differences are blocked, resulting in the error M7097 "No stock posting possible".  

Resolution

Since non-stock materials cannot be posted in the Analyze Differences app, recount the stock as 0 in EWM to cancel it.
