3747254 - SUM fails to start on windows with errors “this app can’t run on your pc” and “host agent NtCreateProcess failed: ErrorCode = 193”

Symptom

  • When registering Software Update Manager(SUM) with script SUMSTART.BAT, Windows shows “This app can’t run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher.”
  • After registering SUM with Powershell  script and launching in a browser, SUM returns “Internal Server Error … terminated with errors: 127 (NtCreateProcess failed: ErrorCode = 193)”.
  • SAP Host Agent logs show attempts to run “powershell.exe …\SUMSTART.ps1” followed by “NtCreateProcess failed: ErrorCode = 193”.
