Symptom
- Applications encounter issues connecting to the ASE Server.
- The following error is reported in the errorlog of ASE Server:
Error: 1601, Severity: 17, State: 1
“There are not enough 'user connections' available to start a new process.” - After initial error 1601, additional errors can be reported:
- Error: 8601, Severity: 20, State: 1
“Process XXX tried to keep the PSS for process 1 when it already had the PSS for process YYY kept.” - Error: 1251, Severity: 26, State: 1
“An in-use preallocated semaphore cursor was encountered,”
- Error: 8601, Severity: 20, State: 1
- One or more SPIDs become unresponsive.
- The unresponsive process is usually corresponding to the SPID YYY reported by error 8061.
- The SPID YYY cannot be stopped by any command.
- The ASE Server must be restarted to remove it.
