Symptom
In the Calendar view there is a drag and drop functionality to move the Visits displayed. Within this, the Visit is rescheduled by changing only its Start Date/Time, only the End Date/Time, or both.
It is desired to understand how this functionality works.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Resolution
The drag and drop functionality inside Calendar will be available for all the involved parties related to the Visit by default. However, there is a scoping question that limits changing the Start Date/Time and End Date/Time of Visits to Organizer and Owner only. For that, please check:
- Go to Business Configuration > Implementation Projects.
- Click on Edit Project Scope.
- Go to step 4.
- Expand Sales > Sales and Activity > Activity Management.
- Question "Do you want to restrict rescheduling of visits and appointments only by Organizer and Owner?" will be shown.
Once scoped, error message "Only Organizer or Owner is allowed to reschedule an activity" will occur, disabling the change for other parties besides Owner and Organizer.
The Owner is typically the employee responsible for executing or overseeing the Visit, while the Organizer is the person who created and scheduled the Visit, often managing the calendar invitation and scheduling details.
The Organizer shown for Visit quick create screen will be caught as per the user logged in. However, the Owner (also shown as Employee Responsible) field will be checked and determined in the below order, respectively:
- Employee Responsible of Account Team
- Employee Responsible of Territory Team
- Current User
It is important to mention that it is not possible to restrict the drag and drop functionality within Calendar view for either Owner or Organizer. There is currently no standard or custom way for that.
