3748045 - Restrict Manual Change of Charges in Freight Order Derived from Freight Agreement

System allows manual modification of automatically determined freight agreement charges in a freight order. Meaning users can overwrite calculated amounts and save manual charges.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Go to the Manage Freight Orders app
2. Select the relevant Freight Order where charges are determined from a freight agreement
3. Choose Edit and navigate to the Charges tab
4. Observe that charge amount fields are editable and can be overwritten and saved

Transportation Management in the public cloud allows manual adjustment of charges in freight orders to accommodate volatile market rates; there is no standard configuration or cloud BAdI to restrict editing of these fields.

In the transportation industry, charges are inherently volatile. Even when freight agreements have been formally established, they remain subject to frequent fluctuations due to market dynamics. To accommodate this variability, the current solution provides users with the flexibility to modify the rate, amount, and currency as needed. This capability also enables rate updates through interfaces, ensuring adaptability to changing business conditions. This is largely used by most of the customers.

Restricting the users from modifying the charges in the freight order is not supported within the standard system capabilities. As a potential approach, we recommend the following:

• Leverage role-based segregation by assigning appropriate personas such as Dispatcher, Transportation Buyer, and Contract Specialist.
• Ensure that responsibilities are clearly defined, thereby restricting unauthorized changes to rates within freight documents. Enforce governance controls so that only designated roles are permitted to maintain or adjust rate-related data.
