3748312 - Error: "Errors occurred while synchronizing...formation ID" occurs when removing formation between SAC and DSP and resynchronization fails.

Symptom

  • Below error occurs when attempting to remove an existing formation between SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and Datasphere (DSP):

    “Errors occurred while synchronizing. Choose Resynchronize to restart the synchronization process. If the problem persists, report a case in the LOD-ANA-ADM-MON component and provide the formation ID”.
  • The issue persists even after using the Resynchronize option.
  • The situation prevents deletion of the current formation, as artifacts from a previously used SAC (test/lab environment) remain linked in Datasphere, blocking the creation of a new formation.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud.
  • SAP Datasphere

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Access the SAP BTP cockpit.
  2. Navigate to the existing formation between SAP Analytics Cloud and Datasphere.
  3. Attempt to remove the SAC tenant from the formation.
  4. Observe that a synchronization error is displayed.
  5. Select the Resynchronize option.
  6. Verify that the synchronization fails and the error persists.

Cause

Resynchronization of the formation fails because a Seamless Planning linking is stuck in a non-successful state (e.g., status DELINKING_INITIATED). 

Resolution

This requires manual cleanup by SAP Development Support.

To proceed:

  1. Raise a support case under LOD-ANA-ADM component, providing the formation ID and the affected SAC/Datasphere tenant details.
  2. Provide explicit approval for SAP to manually delete the stale Seamless Planning linking record.
  3. Once the cleanup is confirmed, retry the resynchronization of the formation.
