Symptom
- In planning mode, formatting rules are applied to a table so that non-input accounts use a ReadOnlyData format and input accounts use an Unlocked format.
- These formatting rules only activate when the Excel worksheet is protected.
- With the sheet protected, cells formatted as Unlocked appear editable, but value changes are not accepted; planning actions are blocked.
- Data cannot be processed or published.
- No specific error message is shown.
Environment
SAC Excel Add-in
Reproducing the Issue
- In the Excel add-in, apply cell formatting rules so non-input accounts are ReadOnlyData and input accounts are Unlocked.
- Turn on Excel worksheet protection to activate these rules.
- Switch to planning mode and try to enter values in cells formatted as Unlocked.
- Observe that editing is prevented and data cannot be processed or published.
Cause
SAC Excel Add-in does not support Excel single-cell protection. It only respects worksheet protection, and when the sheet is protected, data entry via the add-in is not supported. The cell locking must be controlled by the planning model’s locking capabilities.
Resolution
Configure and use the planning model’s data locking feature to define which cells are editable.
