Symptom
BW query variables are exposed in the MDX layer using a specific naming convention. The function module BAPI_MDPROVIDER_GET_VARIABLES returns the currently assigned variable names as known to the MDX layer and should be used as the primary reference for variable name lookups.
In an MDX-statement, input-ready variable can be added using syntax: SAP VARIABLES [<VariableID>] INCLUDING [Dimension].[Member]

- Reports that worked prior to an upgrade stop functioning due to variable name mismatches.
- Variables in MDX queries are not resolved correctly.
