Symptom
When creating a quote, the system determines a Ship-To party automatically. After manually changing the Ship-To party in the Involved Parties facet, the system does not re-evaluate the Delivery Block, Order Block, or Billing Block indicators maintained for the new Ship-To party in Sales Area Data.
As a result, no warning or error messages are displayed even when the newly assigned Ship-To party has active block indicators.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Open a customer account.
- Open a ship-to party to review its sales area and confirm order, billing, and delivery block indicators are set.
- Create a new sales quote for the customer.
- Save and open the quote.
- Remove the existing ship-to partner from Involved Parties.
- Add a different ship-to partner that has block indicators maintained at the sales-area level.
- Save the quote.
- Observe that no warning messages are raised for the ship-to block indicators and block validation is not re-run.
Cause
The system does not perform validation for ship-to parties when they are changed after document creation; validation is executed only for the main account (sold-to) during document creation as per standard design.
Resolution
This is standard system behavior.
During quote creation, block validation (Order Block, Delivery Block, and Billing Block) is performed for the initially determined business partner. When the Ship-To party is subsequently changed in the Involved Parties facet, the system does not re-execute these block checks for the newly assigned Ship-To party. Therefore, no warning or error messages are triggered based on the block indicators maintained for the new Ship-To party.
If validation of Ship-To party block indicators is required after changes to Involved Parties, this must be implemented through custom development using SDK/PDI logic to evaluate the relevant block attributes during add, change, or save events.
If this behavior is required as part of the standard product, submit an enhancement request through the SAP Customer Influence program for evaluation in future releases.
