Symptom
- The "To" field in the email composer does not display a red asterisk (*) indicating it is required, even though the field is mandatory before sending.
- The "From" and "Subject" fields display a red asterisk (*).
- If the "To" field is left blank, the Send button becomes disabled/dulled out as expected.
Environment
SAP Service Cloud Version 2
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a Case.
- Open the created Case.
- Select Create → Email.
- Observe the email draft screen and the absence of a red asterisk on the "To" field.
Cause
The current product design does not display a red asterisk for recipient fields (To, CC, and related fields) in the email composer, although sending is blocked until "To" is populated.
Resolution
- Acknowledge that this is standard behavior: the "To" field does not show a red asterisk, and the email cannot be sent unless the "To" field contains at least one recipient.
- If a visual required indicator for the "To" field is needed, submit a feature request via the Influence portal: Submit a feature request.
