Symptom

Receiving error message no. M7053 - "Posting only possible in periods X & X in company code X" while executing Post Goods Movement.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Post Goods Movement;
  2. Choose 'Goods Receipt' > 'Purchase Order';
  3. Enter Purchase Order;
  4. Click on 'Item Ok';
  5. Press on Check/ Post;
  6. Error Message no. M7053.

Cause

From MM side, it is only possible to make posting in two periods:

  • The current period;
  • The previous period of the current period.

When posting date is out of the two periods, M7053 error will be issued as it is ONLY allowed to make posting in the two periods in standard.
To check what is the current period, please check app "Allow Posting to Previous Period".

Resolution

To avoid error message M7053, the posting date should be within the two periods only.
