3750985 - Discrepancy in OWL screen and entering inside the Production Lot Overview screen

The product Order screen shows a different Production End date from the Object Work List screen and entering inside the Production Lot Overview screen.

The system converts the end date from UTC to the logged-on user's time zone, leading to discrepancies in displayed dates.   

Example: For Production Lots ABC, the end date is displayed as DD/MM/YYYY UTC in the OWL screen, but which is 1 day ahead to the date in Production Lot Overview screen due to the user's time zone (UTC+8).

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Inventory Valuation work center.
2. Open Production Lots view.
3. Search the Production Lots ID(e.g., Production Lots ID ABC ).
4. The OWL screen shows the end date as DD/MM/YYYY.
5. Click on Production Lots ID, navigate to Overview screen, the Production End date is displayed as XX/ZZ/YYYY.

The end date is different in OWL screen from Overview screen.

The End Date field in the OWL screen is displayed without an explicitly shown time zone. The system stores the date/time in UTC in the backend.

When displayed in the overview screen, the system converts the stored UTC timestamp into the logged-on user’s time zone.
If the time zone is ahead of UTC (e.g., UTC+1), this may result in the date being displayed as the next calendar day.

This behavior is system design and consistent with time zone conversion logic.

This is expected system behavior.

The time zone conversion is performed automatically based on the logged-on user’s regional settings.
If a change to the current system behavior is required,  customer need to submit an enhancement request via the SAP Continuous Influence portal for SAP Business ByDesign.

Enhancement requests are evaluated by SAP Product Management based on desirability, viability, and feasibility criteria.
