Symptom

  • When trying to connect the DPAgent to SAP HANA Cloud, receiving the error message described in KBA 2849405Error : "Request failed for CREATE_AGENT" when registering DP agent to HANA.
  • Error in the framework.trc logs:
    [ERROR]  DPFramework | WorkerThread.processRequest [] - com.sap.hana.dp.adapter.sdk.AdapterException: SAP DBTech JDBC: [403]: internal error: Cannot connect to agent: <agent_name> at <agent_host_FQDN>:<port> Context: Cannot connect to hdbdpserver:  Context: com.sap.db.jdbc.exceptions.JDBCDriverException: SAP DBTech JDBC: [403]: internal error: Cannot connect to agent: <agent_name> at <agent_host_FQDN>:<port> Context: Cannot connect to hdbdpserver:
    [...]
    [ERROR]  DPFramework | WorkerThread.processRequest [] - com.sap.hana.dp.adapter.sdk.AdapterException: Agent [<agent_name>] is either not registered or there was an error while checking agent registration. Context: Agent [<agent_name>] is either not registered or there was an error while checking agent registration.
  • The following SQL reveals that the dpserver service is not running:
    select * from sys.m_services where service_name = 'dpserver'
