Symptom
The end date validation for Background Elements in the Latest Workbench, does not work unlike the Legacy Workbench.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Configure standardized mapping so that a background element field such as "Present Employer?" under the Education section, has an end date validation.
- In the Legacy Workbench, when a User inputs a value of yes for this background element field, the end date field associated to the same element becomes uneditable as expected.
- In the Latest Workbench, when the User updates the same value, the end date field remains editable.
Cause
The issue has been classed as a system limitation with the Latest Workbench. Currently, the Latest Workbench does not support End Date validation for Background Elements based on Admin configuration defined in Manage Recruiting Standardization Mapping.
In the Legacy Workbench, the End Date field is dynamically enabled/disabled depending on the mapping of fields like “Is this present employer?” or “Is present student?” (Yes/No or equivalent configured values). However, this configuration is not yet supported in the Latest Workbench, leading to the observed inconsistency.
Resolution
An enhancement has been created to address this gap. Please reach out to your CSM and provide the reference ticket RCM-159931 to get updates on it.
Until the enhancement is delivered, the following workarounds can be used:
- Make End Date Non-Mandatory:
Configure the End Date field as not required, so users are not forced to enter a value when the “present” flag is set to true. - Use Legacy Workbench:
If making End Date non-mandatory is not feasible, continue using the Legacy Workbench where this validation is already supported.
