3752414 - Users with view-only access cannot export datasource

Symptom

  • Users with view-only access CANNOT use the View Data Source menu in view mode to export data from Story page with export options based on file size.
  • View Data Source menu displays the available
  • Data Export in View Mode for Story Reports | SAP Help Portal
  • Error: “Sorry, looks like you don’t have permission to add/edit a dataset in the story. Please contact your administrator for assistance.” 

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud 2026.8

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login into SuccessFactors instance using user with View rights to the story
  2. Go to Report Center
  3. Run any Story report.
  4. When trying to export data source we can see message
  5. " Sorry, looks like you don't have permission to add/edit a dataset in the story. Please contact your Administrator for assistance. "
