Symptom
- Individual browser tabs within the same window time out independently instead of all tabs timing out simultaneously.
- Acknowledging the session timeout warning pop-up ("stay logged in") in one tab no longer keeps other open tabs active.
- Issue observed during testing of the 1H 2026 release in a preview environment.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
Reproducing the Issue
- Open multiple browser tabs within the same browser window in a preview environment.
- Wait for the session timeout warning pop-up to appear in one tab.
- Click the stay logged in option in that tab.
- Observe that other tabs still time out and each requires its own acknowledgment.
Cause
This behavior is an unintended side effect of architectural updates introduced in the 1H 2026 release cycle regarding how browser session heartbeats are managed across concurrent tabs. The synchronization logic that formerly broadcast the session extension to all "child" tabs is currently not functioning as expected.
Resolution
Engineering has identified the root cause and is working on a fix to restore the global session acknowledgment behavior (where one tab keeps all tabs active). Please follow this KBA for updates.
