3753485 - Activity number not automatically assigned when adding a new operation between existing lines of a routing.

Symptom

When creating a routing, the system does not automatically assign an activity or operation number if a new line is inserted between existing operations.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to application 'Change Routing'(CA02).
  2. Enter Material and Plant.
  3. Go to operations tab
  4. Insert a new operation between two existing operations (for example, between 0010 and 0020).
  5. Observe that the operation/activity number is not auto-populated for the inserted line.

Cause

This is standard system behavior. Operation numbers are assigned using a fixed increment, and the system does not automatically generate intermediate numbers when new operations are inserted between existing ones

Resolution

When inserting a new operation between existing ones in routing, you can manually assign an activity number within the available gap. Ensure that the number is unique and maintains the correct sequential order of operations.
