• The “Schedule Billing Creation for Preliminary Billing Docs” background job intermittently fails to create invoices from preliminary billing documents.
• The app shows the error message: “Internal Server Error.”
• The background job log shows: “Business Place is not determined” (Message class J_1IG_MSGS, number 051).

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 

1. Open the “Schedule Billing Creation for Preliminary Billing Docs” app.
2. Locate a run with Status = Failed in the desired date range.
3. Open the failed run and select the job with Status = Error.
4. Observe the error “Internal Server Error.” In the background job log, check that the message “Business Place is not determined” (J_1IG_MSGS 051) is present.

For India localization, the business place was not determined during background processing. The business place was missing or not correctly propagated from the billing request/preliminary billing document, leading to message J_1IG_MSGS 051 in the job log.

1. Maintain the correct business place on the billing request and on the preliminary billing document so it can propagate to the billing document in background processing.
2. In India GST configuration, define the required business places with valid tax registration details.
3. Assign the correct business place to the relevant plants/company codes used by the preliminary billing documents.
4. Activate the business place for all applicable scenarios in the India localization settings.
5. Verify that business place determination occurs for the involved documents and that the determined business place is visible on the preliminary billing document header.
6. Re-run the “Schedule Billing Creation for Preliminary Billing Docs” job.
