3754733 - 'Failed to retrieve the data from the database' error appears when running a report with selection of prompts which have no data in Crystal Reports 2025

Symptom

  • When running a crystal report with selection of prompts which have no data in the backend, it generates the following error messages in Crystal Reports 2025:
    'Failed to retrieve the data from the database.'
    'Unknown data connection error.'

Environment

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2025 Patch 8
  • SAP BW (DSL)

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open a crystal report in CR2025.
  2. Select any prompt values where there are no data found.
  3. Observe error message appears.

Resolution

Issue is fixed from version SAP Crystal Reports 2025 Patch 10 (or higher).
