Reproducing the Issue

In SSCUI 102712 - Maintain Fiscal Year Variants, check whether the flag “Period-Based Quarter Calculation” is checked.

Resolution

This flag specifies that the fiscal quarter is calculated on basis of the number of posting periods of a fiscal year.

Set this flag if the requirement is that the fiscal quarters of the fiscal year should be calculated on basis of the posting periods of a fiscal year. That means that the number of fiscal periods in a fiscal quarter corresponds to the number of posting periods divided by 4. This flag can't be set for calendar year based and week-based fiscal year calendars.

If the number of periods is not fully divisible by 4, the remaining periods will be assigned to the last quarter.

If fiscal year variants are created as shortened fiscal years, the number of periods in a fiscal quarter must still be calculated with the regular number of posting periods. Short financial years may contain fewer quarters than regular fiscal years and the last quarter may contain fewer (< n) periods, with the earlier, non-shortened quarters must have as many fiscal periods as quarters of non- shortened fiscal years.
