3756546 - System throws a validation error while hiring contingent worker with termination date same as their manager’s termination date - 1H 2026

• During the hiring of a contingent worker with a defined termination date (feature introduced in 1H 2026), the system performs manager validation and throws the following error “User X has an inactive manager, Y, as of [effective termination date]. The manager provided in the record has the status Terminated, which means they are inactive.”

• This issue occurs when the manager is also a contingent worker and has the same termination date as the Contingent worker being hired.

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Contingent Workforce

1. Navigate to Admin Center ->Add Contingent Worker.
2. Maintain termination date, ex: Dec 30, 9999.
3. Continue with the hire process by entering the required data.
4. In Job Information, select Position, Ensure that the manager associated with this position is also a Contingent Worker and has the same termination date (Dec 30, 9999).
5. Click Continue and submit the hire transaction.
6. System throws an error: “User X has an inactive manager, Y, as of 12/31/9999. The manager provided in the record has the status Terminated, which means they are inactive.”

• With the 1H 2026 enhancement, when a contingent worker is hired with a defined termination date.
• The system validates the manager’s status based on the effective termination date (the day after the last working day) of the contingent worker, this results in the manager being considered inactive.

• Product Engineering is investigating the behaviour.

Workaround:

• Maintain at least a one-day difference between the contingent worker’s and manager’s termination dates.
