Symptom
- An employee is on Leave of Absence (LOA) as seen in their Administer Time page, however, the Out of Office Banner is not displayed on their profile.
- When searching for the employee in the search bar, they appear as 'inactive'.
Images/data in this KBA are from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central > Time Off
Reproducing the Issue
- Place a user on Leave of Absence.
- Search for the employee in the system and observe that they appear as inactive in the search results.
- In the user's people profile, observe that the Out of Office banner is not shown.
Cause
The 'Leave of Absence Event Reason' (Plan) in the relevant Time Type uses a custom Employee Status field in its configuration.
It is mentioned in the System Behaviour for Events, Event Reasons, and Employee Status | SAP Help Portal section of the guide, that "Any custom employee-status value that is added other than the above is regarded as Inactive in the basic User Data file". This is why the user is made inactive when they go on this specific LOA for this time type.
Even if the user is made inactive from a LOA, the Out of Office banner should still be shown for them. The behaviour of the banner not showing is currently a bug.
Resolution
There is currently an open enhancement for this issue, TIM-57935. Please reach out to your CSM/CEE with this number, TIM-57935, for updates on its progress.
