3757324 - Copying document removes extension field value

Symptom

When copying a document, for example an opportunity via Actions > Copy, the value of the extension field ABC is empty in the quick create screen, although it is filled in the source opportunity.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Sales work center and open Opportunities.
  2. Open an existing opportunity that has values in the extension fields ABC. For example, the extension field value might be "Test".
  3. Choose Actions > Copy.
  4. In the quick create for the new opportunity, observe that the extension field ABC does not have the value "Test" anymore.

Cause

  • A code list restriction is defined with the field ABC as the restricted field and another extension field as the control field, making the combination from the source opportunity invalid under current settings.
  • During copy, the system does not allow this invalid combination; therefore, the restricted field remains empty.

Resolution

  1. Go to Administrator work center > General Settings > Code List Restrictions.
  2. Search for the restriction that controls the field ABC.
  3. Open the restriction and review the allowed value combinations in the table.
  4. If this behavior is not intended, update the restriction to allow the required value combination and save.
