Symptom
- Bulgarian characters are displaying differently in the Latest Home Page quick link translations.
- Characters such as г, д, т, and и are not rendering to the UI
- I've enabled the language pack for Bulgarian, but the symbols are not displaying as expected.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
Resolution
The observed behavior is due to intentional typographic design choices in the SAP font. While Bulgarian and Russian both use the Cyrillic script, each language follows different typographic conventions for certain characters (such as г, д, т, and и).
SAP font includes language-specific glyph variants to reflect these differences. When the system or application language is set to Bulgarian, the font automatically displays Bulgarian-style letterforms rather than the Russian-style forms that users may be more familiar with.
Although there might be an expectation of seeing Cyrillic appearance in both Bulgarian and Russian language packs, it is a Product choice and the display of this characters differently means the rendering is functioning as designed.
