3757461 - I-9 Reverification - The Field "Has the employee's prior work authorization document expired or is no longer valid?" Auto-Defaulting to "No"

Symptom

  • When completing the I-9 reverification process, selecting "No" for the question "Has the employee's citizenship or immigration status changed?" causes the second question "Has the employee's prior work authorization document expired or is no longer valid?" to automatically default to "No".
  • This behavior does not align with scenarios where an employee's work authorization document may expire while their citizenship or immigration status remains unchanged.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In I-9 reverification, select "No" for "Has the employee's citizenship or immigration status changed?".
  2. Observe that "Has the employee's prior work authorization document expired or is no longer valid?" automatically defaults to "No".

Cause

This is Expected System Behavior

Resolution

  1. Note that the auto-default of the second question to "No" when the first question is "No" is by design.
  2. There is currently no configuration or business rule available to prevent this default or to keep the second field blank.
  3. If a change is desired, submit an enhancement request through the Customer Influence portal; refer to: KBA 2090228 – How to submit enhancement ideas for SAP SuccessFactors Products.
