Resolution

Understand the naming: SAP__SD_GEN_LS_BACKORDERS refers to a live story/model (live connection), while SAP__SD_GEN_IM_BACKORDERS refers to an import/acquired model (data imported into SAP Analytics Cloud).

Recognize the core difference: Both target the same backorder analytics and rely on the same source content; the difference is data access mode:

  • Live (LS): Queries the source system in real time, no data persisted in SAC.
  • Import (IM): Data is periodically imported into SAC, enabling snapshots and modeling in SAC.

Choose based on usage:

  • Use LS when you need real-time or near real-time data without duplication, and to keep the source as the single source of truth.
  • Use IM when you need historical snapshots, data blending/modeling within SAC, or more stable performance independent of source load.

Activation guidance:

  • Import/acquired content is enabled via the Content Network using the standard business content import procedure in SAC.
  • Live content requires configuring a live connection to the source system per SAC connectivity guidelines.

Note on functional parity: KPIs and story content are broadly the same; the distinction is data freshness and where data resides (source vs SAC).
