3757868 - Unable to Record Project Time Entry – Error “Activity not valid on Calendar week XX”

Symptom

Users are unable to record/book time for projects and receive the following error message while entering time:

“Activity not valid on Calendar Week XX” ,Where “XX” refers to the respective calendar week.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log in to the system as the affected user.
  2. Navigate to the Home work center.
  3. Open the Self-Services view.
  4. Select the Self-Service Overview subview.
  5. Choose Add Time Entry.
  6. Enter the required project/activity details and maintain a duration value (for example, 01:00).
  7. Save the time entry.
    Observe that the following error message is displayed:
    “Activity not valid on Calendar week XX”.

Cause

The day closure run for the employee had not been executed for the affected period, causing time valuation to block entries with the message "Activity not valid on calendar week".

Resolution

  1. Go to the Time Administration work center.
  2. Navigate to Regular Tasks under Time Valuations.
  3. Select Day Closure Run for One Employee.
  4. Enter the affected employee details.
  5. Set the start date as the first day that has not yet been closed.
  6. Execute the Day Closure Run until the current date.
  7. Once the run is completed successfully, navigate back to the time entry screen.
  8. Retry recording time for the project/activity.
