3758470 - Azure SQL Live Data Connection Missing in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

Azure SQL Live connection is not available in the data source list while creating a connection in SAC

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud 2026.8.5

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to SAC
  2. Navigate to Connections
  3. Search for 'Azure SQL' as Data source

Notice : The "Azure SQL" is not available

Cause

To create live data connections to Azure SQL, SAC must be running on HANA Cloud.

Details can be found in the SAC help guide:  About Live Data Access | SAP Help Portal

Resolution

How to verify if your SAC is running on HANA Cloud:

  1. In the tenant, open About.
  2. If an SAP HANA Cloud version is shown, the tenant runs on HANA Cloud; if there is no reference to an SAP HANA Cloud version, the tenant is not on HANA Cloud.

The migration to HANA Cloud information can be found in the link SAP Analytics Cloud infrastructure is moving to SAP HANA Cloud.

As a temporary alternative, use an import data connection to Azure SQL and load data on a schedule. Detailed steps can be seen in the link Import Data Connection to an SQL Database | SAP Help Portal
