3758926 - Reset Your Password page mixed language and eye icon (password reveal) behavior - SuccessFactors Platform

Symptom

  • The eye icon (password reveal) is inconsistently visible
  • Reset password page displays mixed languages (for example, headers/labels in English while requirement/help/error text appears in another language).

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Reset Your Password page from the reset link in Reset Password Email.
  2. Observe that some page elements (such as "Reset Your Password", “Type your new password” and “Type your new password again”) appear in English while password requirement/help or validation text appears in another language.
  3. In the password field:

a) Clear with backspace and retype — the eye icon displays.

b) Select the existing value and modify without clearing — the eye icon may not display.

Cause

  • The eye icon is a browser-native control. Its visibility depends on how the field is edited (cleared/retyped vs. select-and-modify) and is expected behavior.
  • The reset password page is partially localized. Language is determined by the target user's locale, and some labels are fixed English, resulting in mixed languages.

Resolution

For the eye icon behavior, no product change is required. Visibility is controlled by the browser and is expected.

There 2 possible scenarios:

  1. If I enter a value, delete it with backspace, and enter a new one, the eye icon is visible.
  2. If I enter a value but do not use backspace, only double-click/select the value and replace it or add to it, the eye icon is no longer visible - doesn’t become visible again.

For mixed languages on the reset password page, verify the user's preferred language/locale. Partial localization is expected and some labels currently appear only in English.

Note:

The eye icon (password reveal feature) is browser-dependent, it's not controlled or developed by SAP SuccessFactors.

The same reset password page behaves different based on browser:

  • Google Chrome: no eye icon is displayed
  • Microsoft Edge: the eye icon is displayed
  • Safari: a key/password assistant icon is displayed
