Symptom

Replication of a business partner with an employee as partner function to sales cloud version 2 fails due to an id mapping issue from the work assignment; error: "Mapping error at tempPartnerId: Key mapping not found for , external key $.customer.salesArrangements[].partnerFunctionRelationships[].employeeDisplayId"

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the APP Replicate by replication model.
  2. Replicate a business partner that contains an employee as partner function (for example, sales employee).
  3. Open Sales Cloud Version 2 message monitoring.
  4. Review the inbound message for the business partner replication.
  5. Observe the error: "Mapping error at tempPartnerId: Key mapping not found for , external key $.customer.salesArrangements[].partnerFunctionRelationships[].employeeDisplayId".

Cause

  • Known product issue: the workAssignmentExternalID sent from S/4HANA Cloud does not take the personnel number into account for the Business Partner web service mapping, leading to missing key mapping for the employeeDisplayId during business partner replication to Sales Cloud Version 2, even when configuration is set.

Resolution

  1. As a workaround in Sales Cloud Version 2, edit the External ID Mapping for each affected employee and set the Business Partner ID mapping to the employee’s Personnel Number (instead of the default BP/Workforce Person ID).
  2. Verify in S/4HANA Cloud that the configuration “Map Work Assignment External ID and Personnel Number in Business Partner Web Service” is enabled as per the official guide (see link below).
  3. Reprocess or re-run the business partner replication and confirm that the message is successfully processed.
  4. Monitor product updates: a permanent fix is planned for delivery with the 2608 upgrade release.
