3759370 - When entering an ID in the variable prompt, it does not associate the right text in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

• When opening a story that prompts for variables on a live BW query, entering the ID for a variable value returns a different description than the expected.
• The issue is observed only in stories that use a single query as their basis; stories that use multiple queries (with linked variables) do not show the issue.

1. Open the affected story based on a live BW query.
2. When prompted to enter the variable value for instance "A".
3. Observe that after hitting enter, the ID "A" returns a different description and not the one which is associated with it.
4. Repeat the same variable entry in another story that uses linked variables and the same query. 
5. Notice that in that story, this works as expected. 

• This is currently a limitation in the product using stories with single query.
  
  
• In stories with a single query, the prompt input “A” is matched by substring to the first member whose ID contains “A”, rather than prioritizing the exact match. In stories with multiple queries. the linked-variable intersection narrows the result set and avoids this mismatch.

• An improvement request has been submitted to prioritize the exact match in stories using single query. You can find the improvement request here: Search doesn’t function in the variable prompt with a single query 

The following workarounds can help to mitigate the unexpected behavior:

• Save and use a custom variable variant that contains the correct member selection, so the intended value is applied when opening the story.
• Apply the variable and its value as a URL parameter when opening the story to force the exact member selection.
