3759674 - Error: The property 'competencies' is not defined for type 'goal' - Career Development Plan

• After migrating a development plan to the latest goal plan, opening the plan (or its historical data) from Development Plans shows errors and the plan cannot be accessed.
• Error displayed: "Convert Development Plan error: The property 'competencies', used in a query expression, is not defined as type 'Goal'."

SAP SuccessFactors Succession & Development

1. Login to the instance
2. Go to Goals > Navigate to Development Plans and open the affected development plan template.
3. Try to create goal "You will get an error "The property 'competencies', used in a query expression, is not defined as type 'Goal'"

A custom field in the development plan template uses the field ID "competencies". This ID is reserved by the system for internal functionality, causing a conflict and the reported error in the latest goal plan.

1. Export the development plan template XML.
2. Locate the custom field-definition whose id is set to "competencies" (for example, an enum-type custom field).
3. Rename the field id to a unique, non-reserved value (do not use "competencies").
4. Import the updated template back to the system and validate the template.
5. Test by creating and editing development goals directly from Development Plans to confirm the error no longer occurs.

Note: Be aware: renaming the field id means values previously saved under the old "competencies" field id will not be accessible in the latest goal plan; such values remain visible only in the legacy template.
