3759710 - Concurrent Employment and Global Assignment overlap prevention

Unable to change the home assignment start and/or end date of a Manage Global Assignment due to error about data overlapping: Please adjust the dates so the global assignment does not overlap the global assignment that lasts from XXX until XXX.

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

1. Open Manage Global Assignment for the user and choose Edit.
2. Attempt to change the home assignment start or end date to a specific date.
3. System returns errors such as data overlapping, and the change cannot be saved.

When you add a concurrent employment or global assignment, the system validates whether the dates overlap with an existing employment of the other type. The system behavior depends on whether a date overlap already exists between the two employments.

• When there is no preexisting date overlap, the system behaves as follows:
  • If your action creates a new date overlap, the system now displays a validation error, preventing you from saving or importing. Previously, the system displayed a validation warning, advising you against saving or importing.
  • If your action does not create a date overlap, the system validates the dates, allowing you to proceed. There's no change of behavior between releases for this scenario.
• When there is a preexisting date overlap, the system behaves as follows:
  • If your edit changes the date overlap to a different date overlap, the system displays a validation warning, advising you against saving or importing. There's no change of behavior between releases for this scenario.
  • If your edit does not change the date overlap, the system validates the dates, allowing you to proceed. There's no change of behavior between releases for this scenario.

This validation also applies when you edit the employment dates of an existing concurrent employment or global assignment. If the updated dates create or change an overlap between a global assignment and a concurrent employment, the same validations apply.

This validation doesn't apply between two different concurrent employments of an employee.

1. Identify the start date of the next employment or global assignment for the user.
2. Adjust the end date of the global assignment to a date that does not overlap, for example, set it on or before the day prior to the next start date.
3. Save the record and verify there is no overlap across the employment/global assignment timeline.
