3759828 - Custom Background Elements data not visible in portlet for candidates hired via Onboarding

After completing onboarding via Manage Pending Hires, the candidate is successfully processed, and the hire status is updated to Hired. The employee profile is created and visible with details.

However, the “Información personal” (entity) section appears empty with no data.

This occurs even though:

• Data was entered during NHDR/PDC steps
• Required permissions are granted via RBP
• The portlet is configured in Configure Latest People Profile

Additionally, the same section displays data correctly for employees hired directly through Employee Central.

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

• Configure a portlet using Custom Background Elements in People Profile.
• Grant necessary permissions via RBP and configure visibility in Configure Latest People Profile.
• Initiate onboarding for a candidate and complete NHDR/PDC steps with data entered.
• Process the candidate via Manage Pending Hires.
• Navigate to the employee profile after hire completion.
• Observe that the “Información personal” section is empty.
• Compare with an employee hired directly in Employee Central → data is visible.

The affected portlet is configured using the object type Custom Background Elements.

Currently, Custom Background Elements are not supported in the Onboarding process. As a result:

• Data captured during onboarding is not mapped or transferred to Employee Central
• The associated portlet remains empty after hire completion

This behavior is expected as per current product design.

This is a product limitation.

• Custom Background Elements cannot be used to capture or transfer data during the Onboarding process.
• Therefore, such data will not be visible post-hire when the candidate is processed via Onboarding.

Recommended actions:

• Review the configuration and consider using supported object types for onboarding data capture
• If this functionality is required, submit an enhancement request via the SAP Influence Portal so it can be considered for a future release: refer to: 2090228 - How to submit enhancement requests for SuccessFactors.
