• During subcontracting, a serial number is assigned when issuing stock, but the same serial number does not reflect at goods receipt from the vendor.
• Error message: "Serial number cannot be used, System status ESTO is active."

1. Issue subcontracting stock and assign a serial number.
2. Perform goods receipt for the subcontracted item from the vendor.
3. Enter the same serial number and observe that it is not accepted, showing the error.

The serial number remains in company-owned subcontracting stock (Special Stock O) after movement to the vendor (movement 541), so its status stays ESTO (in warehouse), preventing reuse of the same serial number at goods receipt for the finished item.

1. During goods receipt (MIGO), do not reuse the same serial number if the error “System status ESTO is active” appears.
2. Enter a slightly modified serial number for the finished good on the 101 receipt line (for example, if the original was SN12345, enter SN12345-1 or SN12345-R).
3. If available in your scope, evaluate using the “Subcontracting for Maintenance Operations” process to avoid this restriction.
