Symptom
In the Revenue Recognition Run History Report for sales order item EFG-10(EFG is the Sales Order), the Current Earned Revenue amount shows 0, while the Total Earned Revenue column displays a value (e.g., 400.00 LC).
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Cost and Revenue work center
- Navigate to Sales Document Items.
- Search for the Sales Document Item: EFG-10 (EFG Refers to Sales Document)
- Open Revenue Recognition Run History
- Click Apply
- Observe Current Earned Revenue is 0
Cause
At the time when Goods and Activity Confirmation ABC and Customer Invoice XYZ were created, no accrual method was assigned to the sales document item. Therefore, the corresponding amounts were posted directly to the cost and revenue accounts.
The Current Earned Revenue amount is 0 because no revenue recognition was processed in the current run. The related revenue and cost were already realized and confirmed through Journal Entries when Goods and Activity Confirmation ABC and Customer Invoice XYZ were posted, so there was nothing further for the revenue recognition run to process in this period.
The Total Earned Revenue and Total Earned Cost columns still show amounts because they represent the cumulative revenue and cost that were earned and recognized previously, and the revenue recognition run always checks all values that were recognized previously and then adds whatever is due in the respective period, so if all revenue and cost was already realized in a previous run, the current run shows Current Earned Revenue as 0, which is the expected system behavior.
Resolution
This is the expected system behavior.
