3761424 - Error "Import is disabled as the data format is incompatible" when importing a package into a SAP Analytics Cloud tenant

Symptom

When importing a package file you get the error "Import is disabled as the data format is incompatible"

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud 2026.8.6 on Hana2

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create an import package on a Hana Cloud tenant
  2. Attempt to import that package on a Hana2 tenant

Cause

If compression is enabled, then it is not possible to import a package file from a Hana Cloud tenant to a Hana 2 tenant.  You can identify a Hana Cloud tenant if you go to About and see "Hana Cloud Version".  A Hana2 tenant will have "EPM library version"

Resolution

As per the help documentation found here, you need to turn off compression on the source Hana Cloud system.  It should then be possible to import the package file on the Hana2 tenant.

  1. Log on to the source tenant of SAP Analytics Cloud using an administrator account.

  2. Go to System -> Administration -> System Configuration

  3. To disable the compression, disable the Enhanced data compression for Content Network packages toggle.
