Symptom
The standard field label was updated for the Leads, Account, and Contact business objects via UI Adaptation. However, the updated label is not reflected in Data Workbench (DWB) templates (e.g., Export/Import), which continue to display the old label “E-mail”. No error messages are shown.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Open Adaptation Mode in the UI.
- Navigate to the desired screen for the relevant business object.
- Modify the label of a standard field (for example, “E-mail”) via Adaptation/Language Adaptation.
- Open the Data Workbench work center.
- Go to Export (or Import) and locate the corresponding field in the template/table.
- Observe that the standard field label remains unchanged and does not reflect the UI label modification.
Cause
The OData and Data Workbench (DWB) layers cannot modify or override backend-defined labels for standard fields.
Resolution
Changes to standard field labels made through UI Adaptation or Language Adaptation are not reflected in OData service metadata. This is expected behavior, as Data Workbench (DWB) and OData metadata retrieve labels directly from the backend for standard fields.
