3761533 - Group reporting currency translation ignores inverse rate and uses wrong period rate

During the Group Currency Translation task, the system does not apply the inversed exchange rate (USD to EUR) even though the exchange rate type is configured to allow inversion.

Instead, the system selects a direct EUR to USD rate from an earlier period (period 012, year 2025) when translating for period 001/2026.

The applied exchange rate therefore does not correspond to the key date of the target period.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open Group Reporting Data Monitor and select a consolidation group and consolidation unit.
2. Set global parameters.
3. In the Currency Translation method, ensure the sequence uses exchange rate type AVG and that “Inverted” is selected.
4. Maintain exchange rates so that a USD→EUR rate exists for 31/01/2026 (AVG), and a EUR→USD rate exists for an earlier period .
5. Run the Currency Translation task and review the applied rate in the task log.

The system prefers a direct exchange rate if it exists; inversion is only used when the required direct rate is not available. Because a EUR→USD rate exists, it is selected instead of inverting the USD→EUR rate, leading to usage of a rate from an earlier period.

1. In the Currency Exchange Rates app, maintain the required EUR→USD rate for the key date of the target period using the AVG exchange rate type.
2. Enter the rate with Direct quotation (do not use Indirect quotation) so that the direct EUR→USD relationship is available for the translation period.
3. Save and rerun the Currency Translation task for the same version, fiscal year, and period.
