Symptom
The system prevents creating a handling unit with an SSCC that does not belong to the site’s GS1 prefix.
Error message: "Pack failed: GS1 company prefix in SSCC is not defined in SSCC configuration"
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the Pack Handling Units - Advanced app.
- Enter the plant, work center, and storage bin for the packing area.
- In Create HU, enter an existing SSCC that originates from a different site’s GS1 prefix, choose an HU type, and provide a storage bin.
- Start the packing process and observe the error message.
Cause
- A restriction exists in the SSCC number range configuration where a single warehouse number must consistently use the same number range interval for all related entries.
- The issue occurs when different number range intervals are assigned within the same warehouse, which can lead to inconsistencies in SSCC processing during handling unit creation.
Resolution
- Ensure that only one SSCC number range interval is assigned consistently for each warehouse number in the configuration.
- Align all entries within the same warehouse to use the same number range interval.
- After adjusting the configuration, test the handling unit creation process again to confirm that the issue is resolved.
