3761822 - GS1 Company Prefix Configuration Issue During Handling Unit Creation with External SSCC - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

The system prevents creating a handling unit with an SSCC that does not belong to the site’s GS1 prefix.

Error message: "Pack failed: GS1 company prefix in SSCC is not defined in SSCC configuration"

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the Pack Handling Units - Advanced app.
2. Enter the plant, work center, and storage bin for the packing area.
3. In Create HU, enter an existing SSCC that originates from a different site’s GS1 prefix, choose an HU type, and provide a storage bin.
4. Start the packing process and observe the error message.

In SAP S/4HANA Cloud, each warehouse requires that all Handling Units (HUs) being manually created at a warehouse use the same number range object, even if the HUs have different GS1 company prefixes.

When multiple number range objects are assigned within the same warehouse, the system validation blocks the creation of HUs that do not match the warehouse-assigned number range object.

This triggers the error: "Pack failed: GS1 company prefix 123 in SSCC 123 is not defined in SSCC configuration"

This behavior is standard system logic, ensuring consistency in SSCC number assignment within a warehouse.

To resolve the issue, ensure that the SSCC configuration for the affected warehouse is correctly maintained:

1. Go to the configuration activity:
   • Maintain SSCC Generation for Each Warehouse Number
     or
   • Define Number Range Intervals for SSCC
2. Select the relevant warehouse.
3. Ensure that all required GS1 Company Prefixes (e.g. 12345678) are properly maintained for the warehouse.
4. Verify that:
   • Each GS1 prefix is assigned to a valid number range interval
   • The number range intervals are correctly defined and active
   • The configuration is consistent for all entries belonging to the same warehouse
5. If multiple business units or factories are used, ensure that all required GS1 prefixes are explicitly maintained in the configuration for the warehouse.
6. Save the configuration and retry the Handling Unit creation process.
7. The SSCC generation logic requires consistency between GS1 prefixes and number range intervals per warehouse. Incorrect or missing assignments will result in rejection of externally provided SSCC numbers during Handling Unit creation.
