3761996 - Error message "The value does not match the expected data format. Verify and try again" when creating Extenal ID Mapping

Symptom

You are adding an external ID on the External ID Mapping and the error message "The value does not match the expected data format. Verify and try again" is raised.

Environment

Sales and Service Cloud version 2

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the user Icon.
  2. Go to the System Settings.
  3. Go to the tab All Settings.
  4. Search and open the External ID Mapping.
  5. Select the Mapping Of and the ID 123456 (123456 means a generic ID).
  6. Click on Search.
  7. Add the External ID.

The error "The value does not match the expected data format. Verify and try again" appears.

Cause

After selecting the Mapping of and the ID, the Communication System ID is missing.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the user Icon.
  2. Go to the System Settings.
  3. Go to the tab All Settings.
  4. Search and open the External ID Mapping.
  5. Select the desired Mapping Of.
  6. Add the ID 123456.
  7. Select an available Communication System ID.
  8. Click on Search and add the External ID.
  9. It will be saved automatically.
