3762645 - User assignment changes on business roles appear as transportable changes in software collections - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

• After changing user-to-role assignments in a business role, the business role is marked as “changed” in extensibility inventory/software collections.
• The change is listed as pending to be transported, although only user assignments were adjusted.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 

1. Open the business roles app and add or remove a user assignment for an existing business role.
2. Open the change log of the business role and confirm a user assignment change was recorded.
3. Open extensibility inventory or software collections and observe that the business role is shown as changed and available to be added to a collection.

In the current Business Role framework, any change to a business role—including user assignment changes—is flagged as a change for software collection; excluding user assignments from change notification was never implemented and won’t be changed for Business Roles.

1. Recognize that the behavior is expected for Business Roles: user assignment changes will mark the role as changed in software collections even when no role design change occurred.
2. Continue to maintain user-to-role assignments locally in each system as per standard guidance.
3. Only transport a business role when its design (catalogs, authorizations, restrictions, spaces) has changed and needs to be moved.
4. Monitor the planned “IAM Roles” framework (targeted initial release 2702), where user assignment changes are intended not to mark roles as changed for transport.
