3762918 - error "interval is already in use" when defining separate id series for service ticket document types in work center SAP cloud for customer

Symptom

  • Unable to create different id series/number ranges for customer support and employee support service tickets in the service ticket work center.
  • Error on save: "Update for from number APCRM1_SERVREQ_IN failed; interval is already in use"
  • Additional messages: "Save failed" and "Check phase started"

Environment

  • Product: SAP Cloud for Customer core applications
  • Service Request Processing

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the configuration for service request numbering in the Service Ticket work center.
  2. Attempt to define two non-overlapping number ranges (for example, 0000000001–4499999999 and 4500000000–8999999999) for different document types (customer support and employee support).
  3. Save the configuration.
  4. Observe the error messages.

Cause

  • The number range interval being changed has already been used (numbers have been drawn from it). The system prevents modifications to such intervals to maintain data integrity and avoid duplicate numbering conflicts.
