3762972 - Article appear multiple times as search result in product catalogue, even if it is one and the same product id

Symptom

Search for the article in the product catalogue. - Observe that the same product is listed multiple times despite having the same Product ID.

Go to quotes
Open quote
Click on the catalogue
Search for product
single producr appears multiple times in the search results

Cause

Product belongs to multiple categories, if you search for a product from its parent category, you will see it as many times as it can found in all nested categories (parent and all of its children categories).

Resolution

Expected: one result per unique Product ID.
find unique product, you can do it by going to "Home" category in Catalog.
And if you want to find products or product in each category, you can go to a subcategory and search within, in order to find all subcategories where product is placed.
To optimize number of categories, make distinctive names or search only from Home category.
That way you can get either unique product or make multiple results more distinctive.
