• Despite selecting "Retain Efforts for the Overlapping Months" when changing the work package duration, the registered working hours were still prorated.
• Inquiry whether it is possible to find out if "Retain Total Efforts" or "Retain Efforts for the Overlapping Months" was chosen by the user.
• No error messages or error codes were reported.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open a project in the Plan Customer Projects app.
2. On the Work Packages tab, edit the work package Duration from a longer range to a shorter range (for example, 2026/5/25–2027/3/31 to 2026/5/25–2026/7/31).
3. In the dialog, select "Retain Efforts for the Overlapping Months" and choose OK.
4. On the Information tab, edit the project Duration accordingly (for example, 2026/5/25–2027/3/31 to 2026/5/25–2026/7/31).
5. Save.

• The selection made in the duration-change dialog ("Retain Total Efforts" or "Retain Efforts for the Overlapping Months") is a transient UI choice and is not persisted in application or audit logs. Therefore, it is not possible to verify after saving which option was selected.

• Note that the duration-change dialog selection is not stored in application or audit logs; it cannot be retrieved after the change is saved.
• If verification of the chosen option is required post-change, this is not supported by the current product behavior.
• To request that the selected option be captured (for example, in change history or logs) for future traceability, submit an improvement request via the Customer Influence program.
