3764241 - Flexible Requesting: Error "There are already absences for ABC in period MM/DD/YYYY - MM/DD/YYYY, so this posting is not possible" When Applying Leave on Overlapping Dates

For a certain time type, flexible requesting is set as Yes.

The employee ABC has an existing 1.5-day leave spanning 05/28–05/29. When attempting to submit an additional 0.5-day leave request for 05/29, the following error message is triggered:

"There are already absences for ABC in period 05/29/2026 - 05/29/2026, so this posting is not possible."

1. Submit a 1.5-day leave request spanning two consecutive days (for example： 05/28/2026-05/29/2026), with the last day as a half day.
2. Try to submit an additional 0.5-day leave on that same end date (05/29/2026).
3. Observe the error that the posting is not possible because absences already exist in the period.

With flexible requesting across multiple days, the entered value blocks the full calendar days in the selected date range.

A subsequent absence on the same end date is treated as overlapping and is rejected by design.

This is expected behavior with Flexible Requesting. There is no configuration available to bypass this validation. As a possible workaround:

Use separate requests instead of adding 0.5 day to the end date after a 1.5-day request. For example: submit 1 day for the first date, then submit two separate 0.5-day requests on the end date.
